Maggy Simon is a Brooklyn-based violinist, educator, songwriter, and collaborator whose current work spans performance, teaching, and creative artistry. She is an active member of the Dream String Quartet and leads her own Folk Indie project. Maggy currently teaches Middle School Strings at Grace Church Charter School and maintains a private studio offering violin, viola, and piano lessons.
In recent seasons, she has performed with NPR’s Tiny Desk, Broadway Sings, Derrick Hodge’s The Color of NoizeOrchestra, the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, Palaver Strings, the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, and Playbill’s Songwriter Series. Her performance career has taken her to major venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Kimmel Center, the White House, 54 Below, and the historic Wanamaker Building.
Before moving to New York, Maggy taught High School Orchestra at CAPA in the Philadelphia School District. Her deep commitment to music education is rooted in her upbringing in a family of musicians and educators, which has shaped her belief in the power of accessible, inspired teaching.
Maggy holds a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied with William van der Sloot, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Violin Performance from Temple University, where she studied with Barbara Sonies.

In addition to her performance career, she is a Middle School Orchestra Teacher at Grace Church School, and has a private studio of Violin, Viola, and Piano students. She earned her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Violin Performance from Temple University.
